How to choose a cordless headset...

A few things to take into consideration:

  • Technology - DECT vs Bluetooth
  • Talk time  - how long do you spend on the phone?
  • Training needs - listening in and conferencing
  • Office environment - open plan or quiet office
  • Comfort - what style? Ear hook or headband
  • Do you desk or job share?
  • Mobility and Range - how far do you need to be from the phone?
  • Do you need to answer calls away from your desk?

To assist you in making your choice we have created a short questionnaire. Answer a few simple questions and we will send you a recommendation for a cordless headset. Take this opportunity to trial a unit FREE. [Questionnaire]

What are cordless headsets?

There are two types of cordless headset available: DECT and Bluetooth.
Both types use wireless technology that is not line of sight.

DECT – Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telephony
Most people are familiar with this technology. Premium domestic cordless telephones use DECT technology.

  • Range typically of 50-300m, dependent on building type and environment
  • The headset communicates with a base unit that connects to a fixed line telephone
  • Proven, Secure technology

Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a more recent technology primarily used for mobile phones and mobile data communication. In the future it will be increasingly used to connect to fixed line telephones too. Take a look at the GN6110 and GN6210. [ more ]

  • Range typically 10m
  • Bluetooth headsets can be for mobile telephone use only, or can pair to a mobile and a fixed line phone through a base unit.
  • As yet not as secure as DECT

What the customers say...

"We have found the GN9120 indispensable to our receptionists. Answering the telephone is just a small part of their job, they have many other duties including greeting visitors and sorting mail. The GN9120 gives them the mobility that they need to perform these other tasks."
